This article describes how to set up the Organization structure in APM and the best practices of it.

...

Description

The Organization structure refers to the units that a user can open, and that will decide which employees that will appear in the different Crew List Views.

...

Organization set up can be re-structured any time: The organization units are identified with a unique number, Internal Org Id, (NUMORGID) which is assigned by the program when a new unit is created. By using this number as the identifier of each unit, it is possible at any time to restructure the organization’s outline without losing the integrity of the database. The Internal Org Id is also used to select crew by their connection to various units throughout the program and in reports.

Virtual Companies

If you provide manning agent access to your system, a suggested workflow is to use Virtual companies. When a person is ready from the manning agent's side to be scheduled, they can add them into a Company named "Ready for scheduling" or "for Approval". This company is in turn set to show persons assigned to this in the normal company the Crewing users are accessing.

The virtual companies are shown with blue colors in the Organization Structure. In this case, an employee that is linked to the company "for Approval" under Manila, will automatically show for the users that open up either the "Crew Received for Approval" level or any level above.
